We weren't thrilled about the extra airport time, but figured we would still arrive in madrid in time to make our bus to Burgos at 11:15 am. Come 8:00 we found out the flight was delayed till 10:00 pm, so there was no chance we would make it.
Luckily we were still in the U.S. and could call Mark's dad who purchased new bus tickets online for us. However the new tickets were for hours later than our originals and left from a different station in Madrid.
After a 7 hour or so flight, we landed in Madrid. A very rainy madrid. We took a bus to our bus station to make sure our tickets were all set and then headed into the city.
First stop was puerta del sol because the best chocolate napolitanas are found just outside the metro stop.
Just as good as I remembered from 6 years ago.
From there we wandered over to the Plaza Mayor. Thank goodness for our rain coats and rain covers for our backpacks because it was raining rather hard.
All in all, it's good to be back. Now we are off to Burgos, where we will begin our journey on the Camino de Santiago.

You two back in Madrid eating chocolate napolitanas. Perfect!
