In other words, we ain't done walking yet! We left Santiago a little later than we'd hoped at closer to 8 am.
This meant it was a matter of minutes before the sun was chasing us.
It was a very hot start to the day.
So we were very glad to enter some shade.
Too bad that shade was hiding a mountain that we had to climb. So either way it was so hot.
Once we had climbed the steep incline there were some nice open views.
Notice the scallop shell tile pointing us where to go:
This little girl was selling bracelets for pilgrims right outside her house. I figure if my family lived here, Emily would have set up an epic lemonade stand that would bring in the big bucks.
Sweaty but happy.
We crossed a beautiful river in a little town along the way.
We stopped for a few minutes to enjoy the beauty, and then we were on our way again.
Side note: we are walking through Galicia (northwest part of Spain) where they speak Gallego in addition to Spanish, solar signs are in Gallego, hence "camiƱo de fisterra" = "camino de Finisterre" (at least I hope that's what it means!).
The last part of today's walk was along a river. Very scenic.
We arrived in Negreira around 2:30 pm and found an albergue. Then we went our for a late lunch/early dinner.
We may have ordered too much food. I definitely underestimated the size of the sandwich I ordered.
The food was delicious. Now to rest our legs in preparation for the 30 ish km tomorrow will bring.
